Sorry, but I abhor astrology. It's wholly unscientific, and a perfect example of self-delusion (even in this thread). For a start the original arguments are all stuff that's been rationalised (a) after the story's been read and (b) after the birthdates were known. If there was anything to this, and it really is as comprehensive and obvious as the first post makes out, then why weren't you all able to predict the starsigns beforehand?
Sorry to be so down on it all, but you did ask for opinions.

Astrology is as a study many devote thier time to, and it is extremly complex, detailed, and researched. I think it's sad that Astrologers and Astronomers have such distaste for each other when the study the same thing... only in different ways.
And if you can guess from my posts, I was born on a waxing half-moon(always the peace-maker) I'm a Piesces with Gemini rising, so I'm easily distracted, can do half a dozen things at once, am an artist, writer, poet, songwriter, free therapist, and easily distracted... (it's lots of fun with ADHD thrown in for laughs) I have hundreds of stories and comics and paintings... in various stages of near-compleation.
I've always found this stuff to be alarmingly accurate... especially to people who don't particularly follow it, the more you say, "well that dosen't fit the way I act," when they look up more stuff on you it fits.... which is weird to think about because I was actually supposed to be born in the middle of Feburary, but I hung back till March... hmmm... you know I am always late for things...

But doesn't it worry you when someone posts this very long detailed reasoning about astrology (Drags first post on this thread) and then someone comes along and says "Actually, David reminds me more of a Cancer" to which Drags agrees! It just makes me think "Blimey, you didn't agree when you were putting your original theory together."
Astrology is extremely researched, but that doesn't make it true. For example there's still no definitive answer as whether the stars and planets somehow physically effect us, or if they just act like the hands of a clock, releating to some other underlying syncronicistic pattern. Nor have I found a reason as to why the star sign is taken from birth and not conception (other than the rather cynical reason that it's a lot easier to fix the exact time of place of birth than conception).
And I can't stand it's fatalistic leanings. For example "Oh, I'm always late for things - it's because of my stars." No it isn't - it's because you're slow or stupid or you need a new watch. If you think it's due to the stars then there's a much lesser impetus to change than if you think it's because of a fault with yourself.
There's a whole slew of problems with Astrology, some of which are linked to the greater exploitation of the insecure and needy that you find across the New Age industry. The fact that people are able to read themselves into some vaguely worded but seemingly very technical personal chart doesn't mean a thing.
Anyway, this is turning into a debate on astrology, which isn't about SiP, so if anyone wants to, I've set up another thread on our sister board StP to continue the wider debate. It's here.

Wow. some of you all take this stuff rather seriously. For me it was just a fun way to spend your morning with the newspaper reading your horoscope for the day.
Truthfully, I have NO IDEA what you are talking about when you refer to things like "Mercury rising," or "On the cusp." All I know is that I am a libra, born on Octber 3rd and that two libra should never date. (This is good advise, you might want to just trust me on this.0
Anyway, at least you have provided some interesting reading....the parts I understood anyway.
Have fun and happy reading!

Well, not that it is important or relevant to anything... }:P
A cusp is when the dates of two signs overlap, and the people born on those two days are supposed to be dynamic and have the characteristics of both signs. I'm not terribly clear on some of the other stuff, I just know mine because a roomate of mine was into it.
And again with the people getting up in arms about a course of study they find objectionable... which I find especially funny as we are here debating issues involving people who don't even exist.
